  • Soak the chana dal in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a heavy bottomed pan
  • Add the asafoetida,cumin seeds and let the seeds splutter.
  • Add the soaked chana dal and saute for 2 minutes.
  • Now add water and let it come to a boil.
  • Once boiling, add rice rava and salt to it
  • Mix well cook covered a low flame for 5-7 minutes by stirring occasionally
  • Once the mix comes together, turn off the heat and leave it aside to cool down a bit.
  • Once the mix is cool enough to handle, add 2 teaspoon ghee and mix
  • Grease your hands and take a small portion out of the mixture.
  • Shape it into a round ball.
  • Repeat the same step with rest of the mixture
  • Set a steamer/idli cooker on stove with 1 cup of water to boil
  • Place the prepared balls on idli plates
  • Place the idli plates in the idli cooker
  • Steam cook the undrallus on a high flame for 10 minutes.
  • Switch off the heat, but keep the undrallus in steam for sometime,after which take them off on a plate
  • Offer to the lord as naivedhyam
  • Serve your family while warm,on a bed of peanut chutney(or any chutney of your choice)
